Broadband Illinois In 2019, the governor of Illinois Governor launched the $400 million Connect Illinois project, designed to expand statewide broadband connectivity for all residents (part of the Rebuild Illinois infrastructure plan). Besides mapping the gaps in high speed internet availability, and building out wired networks, the project especially targets rural areas in the southern part of the state. The goal is to provide better service options (faster downloads and uploads) for homes, small businesses, schools and municipal organizations.
