Broadband in Vermont
The average broadband connection speed in Vermont is 27.5 Mbps, with 16 percent of the population either underserved or lacking reliable access to the service. Act 41 of 2015 established the Division for Telecommunications and Connectivity, giving it the mandate to oversee the utilization of broadband development grants to provide connectivity in Vermont’s remotest locations. The Connectivity Initiative remains the chief state program facilitating broadband development, with grants awarded to service providers willing to extend coverage to designated areas.
